Essential pavement reconstruction works along Woodland Road are programmed to start from the 7 April 2026 and are expected to take 14 weeks to complete, weather permitting. The work will see the existing damaged pavement surface removed and replaced with a new asphalt surface, and damaged kerbs at vehicular accesses are to be replaced with new.
To clarify, the pavement reconstruction works will extend from the junction with Plantation Road on the north-west side of the carriageway to the junction with Bernham Road. From there, the works will continue north-east on both sides of the carriageway, around the bend, to the end of Woodland Road. Pavement reconstruction will also be carried out within the small residential Woodland Road close that branches of the main stretch of Woodland Road.
To ensure that works can be carried out safely, from the 19 June 2026 to the 8 July 2026, the junction between Bernham Road and Woodland Road will be temporarily closed. For the full duration of the works, residential and emergency access, as well as access to Woodland Care Home will be the only access provided along Woodland Road, north-east of the junction with Bernham Road. The pedestrian alleyway at the end of Woodland Road linking to Bernham Road will be temporarily closed while pavement reconstruction is undertaken at its entrance.
Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works duration, however there may be some brief periods where vehicular accesses to an individual property is restricted while work takes place in front of a driveway.
The site compound has been agreed to be located on the area of verge south of the junction between Woodland Road and Plantation Road.
The County Council thanks people for their patience while this pavement improvement work is carried out.
The work which will cost £165,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Infrastructure Department and their contractors.
