North Norfolk Distributor Road (NDR) Night-Time Maintenance Works October 2026
Norfolk County Council has advised that essential maintenance works will be taking place on the North Norfolk Distributor Road (NDR) during October 2026. The works are designed to help keep the road network safe and well maintained and will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and road users.
When will the closures take place?
The NDR will be closed between 8.00pm and 5.00am, Monday to Friday, on the following sections:
- 5 October 2026 to 10 October 2026
Between the A1067 Fakenham Road Roundabout and the A140 Cromer Road. - 12 October 2026 to 17 October 2026
Between the A140 Cromer Road and the A1151 Wroxham Road Roundabout. - 19 October to 23 October 2026
Between the A1151 Wroxham Road and Postwick (A1270).
What work is being carried out?
The programme includes:
- Verge and vegetation cutting
- Gully cleansing
- Weed treatment
- Kerb repairs
- Graffiti removal
- Sign replacement
The works involve several agencies working together to carry out maintenance across the route.
Will the road be open during the day?
Yes. The NDR will remain fully open during daytime hours, with closures only taking place overnight. Norfolk County Council expects that some sections may be completed earlier than scheduled, although the closure periods include contingency time for factors such as poor weather.
Diversions and Travel Information
Diversion routes will be clearly signed and electronic message signs will be used to inform motorists of the closures. Roundabouts will remain open, allowing traffic to cross the NDR where required. Norfolk County Council will also be providing updates through its communications channels and social media platforms.
