(Bus, Cycle and Taxi Lane) Traffic Regulation Order 2026
(Hellesdon and Norwich, A1402 Aylsham Road and A140 Cromer Road)
(Bus, Cycle and Taxi Lane) Traffic Regulation Order 2026
The Norfolk County Council has made the Norfolk County Council (Hellesdon and Norwich, A1402 Aylsham Road and A140 Cromer Road) (Bus, Cycle and Taxi Lane) Traffic Regulation Order 2026 (the “Order”) on 29th April 2026 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into operation on 8th May 2026.
The Order reproduces and continues in force indefinitely the provisions of the Norfolk County Council (Hellesdon and Norwich, A140 Aylsham Road and Cromer Road) (Bus and Cycle Lane) Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2024 (the “Experimental Order”), thereby giving permanent effect to the Experimental Order. The effect of the Order is therefore that the following lengths of bus, cycle and taxi lane will have hours of operation between 07:00 and 19:00 on a permanent basis:
- A140 Cromer Road (East Side Lane) – From a point 148 metres south of the centreline of C252 Fifers Lane junction southwards to a point 12 metres north of the centreline of the junction with U57369 Mayfield Avenue, a distance of 845 metres.
- A1402 Aylsham Road (East Side Lane) – From a point 18 metres south of the centreline of the U41450 Suckling Avenue junction southwards to a point 48 metres south of the centreline of its junction with the U41407/12 Bolingbroke Road, a distance of 217 metres.
The order as follows, which was suspended during the operation of the Experimental Order, will be revoked on commencement of the Order; The Norfolk County Council (Norwich, Aylsham Road and Hellesdon, Cromer Road) (Bus And Cycle Lane) Order 2022.
The term ‘Taxi’ has been added to the title of the Order but this does not represent a change to the provisions and is only for the purposes of clarity.
Road numbers have been updated where necessary to reflect the current classification but road lengths remain the same as in the previous Experimental Order and Order
A copy of the Order may be viewed online at www.norfolk.citizenspace.com. Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, the offices of Broadland District Council, Thorpe Lodge, 1 Yarmouth Road, Norwich, NR7 0DU and at the offices of Norwich City Council, St Peters Street, Norwich, NR2 1NH. Any person who desires to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from 29th April 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose
